Ad revenue
What sponsored placement is earning you, who is buying, and whether it is worth selling.

The five figures
| Figure | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Total sponsored revenue | All time, from paid placements. |
| Active campaigns | Placements live right now. |
| Paid campaigns | How many have ever been paid for. |
| Advertisers | How many distinct restaurants are paying. |
| Avg per campaign | What a paid placement is worth on average. |
Advertisers is the figure that matters
Revenue from three restaurants and revenue from thirty look identical on the total line and are completely different businesses. Three advertisers is a favour; thirty is a product. If the advertiser count is not growing, the revenue line is one relationship away from halving.
Revenue by restaurant
Every paying restaurant with what it has spent. Two readings worth taking:
- Concentration. If one restaurant is most of the total, you have a customer rather than a market.
- Repeat buyers. A restaurant that has bought several placements found them worth renewing. Those are the ones to ask what worked — and the answer is usually a specific slot, which tells you what to sell more of.
Sponsored revenue over time
The chart shows revenue from paid placements per period. Placements are sold by the month, so it moves in steps rather than smoothly, and a flat stretch usually means renewals are not happening rather than that nothing sold.
Making it worth selling
- Price by position, not by page. A hero slide and a rail card on the same page are not worth the same, and pricing them the same makes the good one look cheap.
- Sell the tag and cuisine banners. Smaller reach, far better intent, and restaurants renew them because they work.
- Keep slots scarce. Every additional slot on a page dilutes the ones already sold, and your existing advertisers notice before you do.
Set the slots and their prices under Sponsored placement.
Where this sits in your earnings
Sponsored revenue is one of three income lines, alongside order commission and subscription plans. It appears in Platform earnings as its own line — it is not commission and does not move with order volume, which is exactly why it is worth having.
When it doesn't work
The screen is empty
No paid campaigns yet, or sponsored placement is switched off — see Sponsored placement.
Revenue is flat with active campaigns running
Revenue is recorded when a placement is paid for. Campaigns already paid and still running do not add to it again — the line moves on new sales and renewals.
A campaign is live but not counted
It was priced at nothing, so there was nothing to collect. Free placements go live immediately and contribute no revenue.
Restaurants stopped renewing
Ask two of them. The usual causes are a slot that delivered no clicks, or a price that never matched the traffic the page actually gets.
