Where reviews come from, who may write one, and what happens to them.

Your reviews

Every review the customer has left, with its rating and date. Each can be edited or deleted by its author — a review is only ever written from a completed order.

Only customers who ordered

A review can be left from a completed order in the customer's account, and nowhere else. Somebody who has not ordered cannot review, and neither can somebody whose order is still open.

That constraint is what makes the ratings worth having. It also means one thing for you: an order never marked complete never prompts a review. A restaurant that leaves orders open collects far fewer than it should.

Writing one

A star rating out of five and a comment, prompted with "How was your order from —?". The customer can edit or delete their own review afterwards; deleting is permanent and asks first.

What happens next

Reviews are moderated by your platform before appearing — see Reviews (platform). An approved review appears on your page and counts towards your rating; a hidden one does neither.

Your rating is the average of approved reviews only. So a moderation decision moves your rating, and a platform that hides reviews on request has ratings that mean nothing. Yours mean something because that is not how it works.

Getting more of them

  • Complete your orders. The prompt only exists on completed ones. This is almost always the biggest gap.
  • Ask, once. In the packaging, or on the receipt — see Receipt designer.
  • Answer the bad ones. Publicly, briefly, without arguing. Prospective customers read the reply more carefully than the complaint.

What you cannot do

You cannot edit or remove a customer's review. Only your platform can moderate, and only against its own rules — abuse, personal data, spam, or a review of the wrong restaurant. A bad experience honestly described stays up.

That cuts both ways, and the second way is the one worth remembering: nobody can remove your good reviews either.

When it doesn't work

A customer says they cannot review

Their order is not marked complete, they already reviewed it, or they ordered as a guest.

A review is not on my page

It is awaiting moderation, or was hidden. Your platform decides.

My rating changed on its own

A review was approved, hidden or deleted. The average is recalculated from what is visible.

We get almost no reviews

Check how many orders you actually mark complete. It is the usual explanation.
